Willersalpe, Mountain pasture in Bad Hindelang, Germany.
Willersalpe is a mountain hut located at about 1456 meters elevation, situated in a high basin above the Ostrach Valley. The structure sits surrounded by the peaks of the Allgäu Alps and functions as a waypoint for hikers traversing this region.
The hut was destroyed during World War II and rebuilt in 1947, marking a turning point in its history. Following this reconstruction, it developed into an important resting point for hikers in the Allgäu Alps.
Traditional mountain farming methods persist at Willersalpe, where supplies still arrive by horse transport and mountain cheese production continues throughout the summer season.
The hike from Hinterstein takes about ninety minutes and follows a well-marked path through the mountains. The hut offers simple accommodation in dormitory rooms and is open from May through November.
A notable hiking trail called the Jubilee Path originates at the hut and stretches for 18 kilometers across the Allgäu high mountains. This route leads hikers northwestward toward Hochvogel, offering a long, connected journey through the alpine landscape.
