Wegberger Mühle

Wegberger Mühle is a watermill building in Wegberg situated between the castle, town hall, and church with the Schwalm River running alongside it. The structure has multiple floors and displays the characteristic features of a historic mill with solid stonework and a prominent location at the water's edge.

The building is first recorded in 1506 as Schabbis Mill and came under the ownership of the Count of Nesselrode in 1560. It operated as both a grain and oil production facility, making it an important enterprise for the region at that time.

The mill takes its name from the Schwalm River, whose water once powered the mill wheels that stood here. Today it serves as a gathering place where locals come together for meals and conversation.

The location is easy to find as it sits in the town center surrounded by recognizable buildings. Visitors can enjoy an on-site restaurant with outdoor seating areas and access to the nearby park with views of the mill pond.

The mill was transformed in 2009 into a community center featuring a café and tourist information office. This conversion demonstrates how historical buildings gain new life while maintaining their original architectural character.
