Liebfrauenkirche

Liebfrauenkirche is a parish church with a three-nave neo-gothic hall structure and a tall square tower positioned on the eastern side. The building features a stepped choir and contains an organ with 42 registers installed in the 20th century.

The church was founded in 1881 and consecrated in 1883 to serve the growing Catholic population of the city. It was built during a time of rapid population growth and urban expansion in Dortmund.

The windows display figurative scenes from the late 19th century that fill the interior with religious imagery. These artworks reflect the artistic traditions of that era and shape how visitors experience the space.

The building has served as a columbarium since 2009, providing space for urns with bronze memorial plaques. Visitors can walk around the church columns to view the inscriptions dedicated to various individuals.

The burial sites around the church columns bear the names of saints and individuals connected to the Archdiocese of Paderborn. This creates a personal connection between the building and the spiritual history of the region.
