Bastionsgarten, Botanical garden in Eichstätt, Germany.

The Bastionsgarten spans 1500 square meters below Willibaldsburg castle, featuring seasonal plantings arranged like an open book displaying different growth periods.

Prince-Bishop Johann Conrad von Gemmingen established the original garden in 1597, which was destroyed during the Thirty Years War and reconstructed in 1998.

The garden maintains documentation of plant species through educational panels that detail botanical classifications and growing patterns from the 17th century.

Visitors can access the garden from April 16 to October 3, Tuesday through Sunday between 9:00 and 18:00, with free admission throughout the season.

The garden displays approximately half of the 1,048 plant varieties documented in Basilius Besler's 1613 botanical book Hortus Eystettensis.
