Diepholz Airfield Circuit

Diepholz Airfield Circuit, former auto racing circuit near Diepholz, Germany

The Diepholz Airfield Circuit was a racing track laid out on a former military airfield in northern Germany, measuring approximately 2.7 kilometers around its layout. The course utilized the long runway of the airbase and featured multiple corners along with extended straight sections where vehicles could reach significant speeds.

The airfield itself had existed since 1937, but racing events began in 1968 when the property was converted into a motorsport venue. From 1984 to 1996, it regularly hosted the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters, a major German touring car series, before competitive racing at the site ended.

This site became a gathering point for German racing enthusiasts who traveled to watch skilled drivers compete at high speed. The race events shaped local identity, drawing crowds who came to witness intense battles between some of the country's best touring car drivers.

The site is located on an active German Air Force base and is not freely accessible to visitors. The former racing circuit can be partially seen from outside, but visiting the location requires prior permission or participation in special events.

The track is featured in several racing game simulators, including RaceRoom, where fans can experience the classic racing layout in digital form. This virtual recreation helps preserve the memory of the venue and allows players to understand the demanding challenges of its tight configuration.
