Botanischer Garten der Universität Karlsruhe

The Botanischer Garten der Universität Karlsruhe maintains 5,700 plant species across its greenhouse complexes and outdoor growing spaces, including 1,930 endangered specimens.

Three plant houses constructed between 1853 and 1857 by architect Heinrich Hübsch underwent reconstruction in the 1950s following substantial damage during World War II.

The garden fulfills three primary functions through its collections: scientific research advancement, educational support for university programs, and preservation of endangered plant species.

The greenhouse facilities welcome visitors six days per week, remaining closed on Mondays, with an entrance fee required to access the indoor plant exhibitions.

The garden cultivates over 50 species of wild grape vines for research against downy mildew and maintains an international collection of wild rice varieties.
