Kontorhaus am Markt

The Kontorhaus am Markt stands at Langenstrasse with a neo-Renaissance facade featuring Gothic arches, columns, and allegorical sculptures at its three-section portal entrance.

Built between 1910 and 1912 for the Disconto Company bank, the structure replaced several smaller gabled houses to expand the local chamber of commerce operations.

The building will house the City Musicians House, an interactive exhibition space dedicated to the Brothers Grimm fairy tale across two expansive floors.

Following the departure of the Economic Development Agency WFB, the upper levels will undergo renovations to accommodate office spaces and cultural facilities.

The building incorporates Muschelkalk freestone materials and displays a double-arched pediment on its market-facing side with decorative elements above the arcade.
