Diözesanes Zentrum Sankt Nikolaus, Diocesan centre on the Domberg in Limburg an der Lahn, Germany

The Diocesan Center Sankt Nikolaus stands on the Domberg next to Limburg Cathedral, on a 1,750 m² plot bounded by remains of the medieval town walls. The complex combines the renovated Alte Vikarie (around 1490), the former Domküsterhaus (1903/1904) and a new two-storey building whose Chapel of St. Mary, clad in black Nero Assoluto basalt, rises 13 m. The main entrance has a bronze portal by Thomas Duttenhoefer showing the diocese coat of arms and four saints.

The complex was inaugurated on 29 June 2013 as the Diözesanes Zentrum St. Nikolaus, replacing the bishop's former residence. Its construction costs, largely attributed to Bishop Franz-Peter Tebartz-van Elst, drew national and international coverage and led to his resignation in March 2014. His successor Georg Bätzing did not move into the episcopal residence, and in 2019 the building became part of the neighbouring diocesan museum.

The complex is now the Diözesanes Zentrum St. Nikolaus, inaugurated on 29 June 2013. Its bronze portal by Thomas Duttenhoefer shows the diocesan coat of arms with four saints: Maria Katharina Kasper, Saint George slaying a dragon, Saint Nicholas of Myra and Hildegard of Bingen. The chapel's eight windows by Johannes Schreiter depict scenes such as the wedding at Cana and Emmaus.

The location is central in Limburg at a street intersection, making it easy to reach while exploring the city on foot. Visitors should note this is primarily an administrative building where public events occur only occasionally.

The Mariengarten on the lower slope of the Domberg is enclosed by a wall dating from Carolingian times. Its gravel area holds apple, pear, cherry and walnut trees among lavender, roses and hydrangeas, and 15 bronze relief panels along the wall depict the Stations of the Cross plus a Resurrection scene. Access is through the courtyard of the Diocesan Museum.
