Kaufhaus Isay, Heritage monument in Altstadt-Nord, Germany
The Kaufhaus Isay exhibits four complete floors and a hipped roof with gable details at Zeppelinstrasse 4-8 in Cologne's historic center.
Built between 1911 and 1913 by architects Helbig & Klöckner, the building initially served as headquarters for the Isay Brothers cloth and wool trading company.
The structure exemplifies early 20th-century commercial architecture and reflects the economic growth of North Rhine-Westphalia during the pre-war period.
The building underwent major renovations between 1956 and 1958 to accommodate new uses, including the development of adjacent areas.
The Kaufhaus Isay survived World War II with minimal damage and later housed the Cologne Surveying and Cadastral Office until 1999.
