Richmodishaus und Richmodisturm, Medieval tower house in Altstadt-Nord, Germany.

Richmodishaus is a medieval residential building featuring an octagonal tower at Neumarkt 8-10 with a 28-meter spiral staircase inside. Stone horse heads jut out prominently from an upper window of this tower.

The property was acquired in 1409 by Johann van dem Buchel and grew into an important residence for wealthy citizens. It was reconstructed in 1928 following designs by architect Paul Bonatz while keeping the historical exterior intact.

The building displays Late Gothic and Dutch Early Renaissance features that reflect the artistic tastes of medieval Cologne's merchant class. These architectural styles show how local craftsmen adapted international influences to create their own distinctive character.

The building sits at the Neumarkt corner in the Old Town and is easily accessible via main streets. Ground-floor and lower-level retail shops make it simple to view the exterior and decorative details from street level.

The two stone horse heads reference the medieval legend of Richmodis von Aducht, a notable figure in Cologne's city history. These sculptural features set this building apart from other medieval structures in the region.
