Schloss Schönach, Royal palace in Mötzing, Germany.

Schloss Schönach is a three-story palace in Mötzing featuring pilaster details on its facade and pavilions extending from three sides of the main structure. The building spans approximately 32 meters by 20 meters and contains rooms decorated with ceiling frescoes and ornamental plasterwork.

The palace originated in the 12th century and underwent Renaissance renovation in 1569 before Count Johann Georg von Königsfeld made substantial changes around 1702. The surrounding pavilions took their present form in 1707 and have defined the appearance of the entire complex since then.

The interior spaces show how this palace once served as a center for celebrations and gatherings of the local nobility. The elaborate ceiling paintings and decorative plasterwork that visitors see today reveal the taste and wealth of those who lived here.

The palace is located at Schloßstraße 3 in Mötzing, Bavaria, and visitors should arrange access beforehand with the current owners. The best time to explore is during daylight hours when natural light highlights the architectural details and exterior surroundings.

Three tent-roofed pavilions built in 1707 surround the main palace in a precise symmetrical arrangement that few visitors notice. These ancillary structures showcase the Baroque love of geometric order and are often overlooked despite their architectural significance.
