Schule an der Limesstraße

Schule an der Limesstraße, Primary school and heritage monument in Munich, Germany

The Schule an der Limesstraße is a primary school building in Munich with two stories, decorative chimneys, and a roof turret topped with a clock in Reform architectural style. The structure displays distinctive features from the early 1900s and was designed with classrooms for young students.

The building was constructed in 1906 to serve the children of railway workers employed at the newly opened Central Workshop. It became an important part of the infrastructure that supported the rapid development of the settlement area.

The school building served as a gathering place between the old village center and the new Neuaubing settlement, bringing people together. It shaped community life and helped residents connect across different parts of the neighborhood.

The school building is located on Limesstraße 38 and can be viewed from the outside to appreciate the architectural details and roof structure. Interior access is limited since it remains an active school, but passersby can observe the facade and distinctive features from the street.

During World War II, the building's purpose shifted dramatically to house air force assistants. After the war, it temporarily served as a refugee shelter before resuming its educational role.
