ZDF-Sendezentrum 1, Television broadcasting center in Lerchenberg, Germany

ZDF-Sendezentrum 1 is a major television broadcasting and production facility in Mainz that occupies a large area with multiple buildings. The complex houses studios, administrative offices, and production equipment where daily television operations take place.

The facility was established in 1964 when ZDF purchased land on Lerchenberg hill to build its main headquarters. It grew to become one of Germany's most important television production centers.

The site's open ground has hosted the ZDF-Fernsehgarten since 1986, a Sunday show with room for up to 4,000 visitors in the audience. The same area holds the summer Azubi-Festival, organised with the IHK Rheinhessen, where graduating apprentices receive their certificates.

The site lies north of Essenheimer Straße and west of the Mainzer Ring, reached via the Mainz-Lerchenberg junction of the A 60, the L 426 and ZDF-Straße. The Mainzelbahn tram line runs south of the grounds. The ZDF-Hochhaus is visible from far off as a landmark for orientation.

The site is split by Essenheimer Straße: north of the road lies Sendezentrum 1, south of it Sendezentrum 2, which housed Sat.1 from 12 September 1990 to 30 August 1999 and has hosted 3sat and Arte since 30 January 2001. Underground transmission cables link Sendezentrum 2 to the satellite station on the main grounds.
