Plauer Brücke, Road bridge across Havel River in Brandenburg an der Havel, Germany
Plauer Brücke is a steel truss bridge crossing the Havel River in Brandenburg an der Havel, spanning 130 meters with a deck width of approximately 10.70 meters. The structure rests on two supports anchored in the riverbed and features a slightly curved alignment connecting both riverbanks.
The bridge opened in 1904 and represents engineering practices of the early 20th century. After suffering damage in 1945, it was rebuilt and restored to the form visible today.
The railings display Art Nouveau patterns that reflect how engineers in the early 1900s designed steel structures with visual care. You can notice these details as you walk across, showing how function and appearance met in industrial design.
The bridge now serves only pedestrians and cyclists, while vehicle traffic uses the adjacent newer structure. Walking or cycling across offers good views of the river and surroundings from the deck.
The bridge features steelwork railings in Art Nouveau style that create changing patterns as light passes through them. These details are most striking up close and are often favored by photographers.
