Castle Plaue stands on the western bank of the Havel River where it exits Lake Plaue, featuring baroque architecture with a landscaped garden.
The castle served as a strategic point between Brandenburg and Magdeburg territories from the 12th to 15th centuries, controlling river crossings.
The castle grounds include a cemetery accessed through the Angel Gate, decorated with sandstone angel sculptures created in 1835.
The castle park extends south along Lake Plaue to Lake Wende, offering public access since 1935 for walking and nature observation.
The clay pigeon shooting range within the castle park, built around 1900, remains the oldest preserved facility of its kind worldwide.
