Betriebshof Britz, Public transport depot in Britz district, Berlin, Germany

The Betriebshof Britz is a bus depot in the Britz district of Berlin that features large halls and open spaces housing buses and service facilities. The site comprises multiple buildings with workshops, fueling stations, and washing bays that continue to serve the city's public transport system today.

The site opened in 1910 as a streetcar depot with on-site housing for workers and supervisors before being redeveloped in the mid-1920s. The current buildings were constructed from 1925 to 1926 in a modern industrial style, transforming the facility to serve bus transportation instead.

The architecture displays the design language of the 1920s with clean lines and functional brick buildings that reflect how people thought about work and progress at that time. Walking through the complex reveals how industrial spaces were built to be both practical and visually ordered.

The depot is best accessed on foot or by bike and sits near public transport stops in the neighborhood. Keep in mind that this is an active work site and access to certain areas may be restricted for safety reasons during daily operations.

From 1971 to 1992, one of the halls housed a hidden collection of historic public transport vehicles that was kept away from public view for decades. The collection reveals how the city preserved memories of its transportation past before eventually sharing these vehicles with the public again.
