Staden, Architectural heritage park in Saarbrücken, Germany
Staden is a riverbank park along the right side of the Saar that features shaded pathways, open meadows, and play areas for children. The grounds stretch between Bismarck Bridge and the Römerbrücke power plant and can be explored on foot or by bicycle.
The park was created in 1908 and retains features from its original design by architect Heinrich Güth. Protected elements such as embankment walls, railings, and pavilions date back to this early period.
The beer garden pavilion serves as a social hub where locals gather for meals and conversation. This gathering place reflects how the park functions as a living center for the community.
The park is easy to access and offers walking paths as well as cycling routes for different activities. Visitors can also find boat docking spots along the riverbank if they want to explore the Saar from the water.
A 450-meter graffiti wall beneath the A620 highway called '4560' serves as one of Germany's largest authorized spaces for spray painting. This art project attracts artists from across the region and gives the park a modern, creative edge.
