Schloss Waldsee

Schloss Waldsee is a Renaissance palace situated on an artificial island and surrounded by a water-filled moat in Bad Waldsee. The main structure is accompanied by extended wings that create a substantial architectural composition across the island.

The palace was built in 1550 by Georg IV of Waldburg-Waldsee and remained the family residence until 1798. Alterations during the 18th century transformed the original Renaissance structure into its current form.

The family coat of arms adorns the palace front and reflects the noble standing of the Waldburg lineage. Visitors today can observe these heraldic symbols that marked their prominence in the region.

The palace can be viewed from outside and the island ensemble is easy to explore on foot from the town. Access is straightforward since the location sits centrally within Bad Waldsee.
