Mine Hella-Glück, Historic copper and silver mine in Neubulach, Germany.

Hella-Glück mine is a historic copper and silver mine in the Black Forest region with a tunnel network spanning over 2,000 meters and reaching a maximum depth of 240 meters. The passages reveal layers of sandstone and shell limestone with deposits of quartz, baryte, and various minerals.

Mining at this site began around 1250 when demand for azurite as a blue pigment sparked the creation of a mining settlement. This early copper production shaped the region for centuries and established Neubulach as a notable mining location.

The traditional miners' greeting 'Glück auf' comes from mining communities and expresses wishes for safety and successful ore discoveries. This tradition remains visible in the site's name and how visitors are welcomed into the tunnels.

Guided tours run every Sunday, with the last entry in the afternoon, except during Advent Sundays and winter holidays. Bring warm clothing since the tunnel temperature remains cool throughout the year.

The mine's name reflects the hopes embedded in mining tradition - 'Hella' refers to ore and 'Glück' expresses the wish for a successful find. This naming reveals how deeply optimism was woven into mining culture.
