Town park Erfurt

Town Park Erfurt is a public green space located south of the main train station, featuring cultivated gardens, paved pathways, and a distinctive staircase structure. The space extends across several hectares and provides room for different types of walks and visits.

The park was established in 1908 on former military fortification grounds when the city was expanding and needed new public spaces. This transformation from defensive grounds to a recreational area reflects how Erfurt reorganized itself in the early 20th century.

The park features various artworks that visitors can discover during their walk, including a historic fountain figure and a children's group sculpture. These art pieces shape the character of the space and invite people to pause and look closely at them.

The best access is through the distinctive staircase that is reachable from the station side and leads down into the park. The pathways inside are well-maintained and relatively flat, making walking comfortable in different seasons.

Rare plant species grow in the park, including the Amur cork tree and an ancient mulberry tree with an unusually thick trunk. These botanical features make the place worth exploring for nature enthusiasts.
