Lanz-Museum Mitterrohrbach, Agricultural machinery museum in Mitterrohrbach, Germany
The Lanz-Museum Mitterrohrbach is an open-air agricultural machinery museum located in the village of Mitterrohrbach in Bavaria, Germany. It displays around 40 machines, including tractors, steam engines, and threshing equipment, all arranged within a farmyard setting.
The collection grew from a private initiative and by 1990 had outgrown its original home, which led to the move to Mitterrohrbach. The new farmyard location gave the collection enough space to be shown in a way that made sense to visitors.
The collection reflects how farm machines shaped the daily rhythm of rural life in this part of Germany. Many of the machines on display still show clear signs of real use, which gives the visit a grounded, honest feel.
Most of the machines are displayed outdoors, so a dry day makes for a more comfortable visit. The farmyard layout is easy to walk through, with no steep paths or difficult terrain.
The museum holds one of the earliest Lanz Bulldog tractors, a machine so common in its time that the name Bulldog became a general term for all tractors in Germany. This makes it one of the few places where you can see the original model that shaped how an entire country talked about farm machinery.
