Founded in 1234, the building served as the residence of the Teutonic Knights until 1809, when it transitioned to new purposes under different ownership.
The building contains notable architectural elements including the Herrenküche and a substantial fireplace that represent medieval craftsmanship and social structures.
The structure currently houses university departments, providing over 2,000 square meters of space for classrooms, laboratories, and academic offices.
The baroque entrance portal was transferred from the demolished old comture, integrating different architectural periods within the building complex.
