Stechinelli-Kapelle, Baroque chapel in Wieckenberg, Germany
The Stechinelli Chapel appears as a farmhouse from the exterior while containing intricate baroque decorations, ceiling paintings, and carved altar pieces inside.
Francesco Maria Capellini initiated the construction in 1692 as a private chapel, following permission from Duke Georg Wilhelm who required its exterior to resemble a farmhouse.
The interior features Italian baroque elements, including cherub ceiling paintings believed to represent Stechinelli's children, and an altar with apostle figures predating the chapel.
Religious services occur every second Sunday of the month, with the chapel opening for visitors according to schedules posted at the entrance.
A wooden floating angel holds the baptismal bowl, while the altar retable displays the coats of arms of Stechinelli and his second wife with hat and rose symbols.
