Stechinelli-Kapelle

The Stechinelli Chapel looks like a farmhouse from outside but contains elaborate baroque decorations, ceiling paintings, and carved altar structures inside. The space is defined by Italian artistic elements that emphasize its character as a private place of worship.

The chapel was founded in 1692 by Francesco Maria Capellini as a private place of worship after receiving permission from Duke Georg Wilhelm. The duke required that the building resemble a farmhouse on the outside.

The interior showcases Italian baroque craftsmanship with ceiling paintings and sculptural details that reflect the founder's ties to southern European artistic traditions. These elements reveal how faith and artistic expression merged in this private worship space.

Visitors should check opening times in advance since the chapel's schedule is flexible. Religious services occur every other Sunday, which can be a good time to visit and experience the space as it is used.

A wooden angel suspended above the baptismal font appears to hold it in place, a rare liturgical detail in such a small chapel. The altar retable also displays the family coats of arms with hat and rose symbols that tell of the founder's identity.
