Wilhelm-Külz-Park

Wilhelm-Külz-Park is a heritage park located across the Thonberg and Probstheida districts, covering approximately 45,000 square meters with winding paths and trees arranged in natural groupings. The landscape features varied vegetation and open spaces suited for walking and outdoor activities.

This location served as Napoleon's command post during the Battle of Nations in 1813, a significant moment in the region's past. The Napoleonstein monument now marks where this historical event took place.

A cultural center near Friedhofsweg houses a children's library, exhibition space for photography displays, and a museum room with traditional toys from different periods. Visitors can explore these collections and local artistic works during their visit.

The park features walking and cycling paths that connect different areas, with multiple entry points available for visitors. Be aware that certain events require permits and that muddy conditions may occur after heavy rain.

Red oak trees are planted in three rows along October 18th Street, creating a symmetrical avenue that aligns visually with the Monument to the Battle of Nations nearby. This tree-lined arrangement connects the park grounds to the neighboring monument in an intentional way.
