Kunst- und Kulturzentrum der StädteRegion Aachen, Cultural center and museum in Monschau, Germany.
The Kunst- und Kulturzentrum der StädteRegion Aachen is housed in a historic building over 150 years old in Monschau that functions as a museum and exhibition space. The facility contains multiple galleries for rotating displays and artist studios where creative work happens and gets shared.
The center was founded in 2002 following a decision by the district council in October 2001 to create an artistic hub for the Aachen region. It was established with the goal of making local and regional art accessible to a wider public.
The center hosts four to six photography exhibitions yearly, featuring photographers from around the world. These shows offer different perspectives on how artists see and document the world.
The center is open Tuesday through Friday from 2 PM to 5 PM and on Saturday and Sunday from 11 AM to 5 PM. The facility closes during winter from mid-December through January, so plan your visit during other months.
Since 2020, the center funds photographers to create projects specifically documenting the Monschau region, which later appear in dedicated exhibitions. This approach results in artworks that capture the local landscape and culture through artistic perspectives.
