Hochstraße Breitenweg

The Hochstraße Breitenweg extends for 689 meters as a four-lane elevated structure positioned between the roadways beneath in central Bremen.

The construction of this elevated road began in March 1968 to reduce ground-level traffic near the train station square and opened in August 1969.

The street design reflects German urban planning principles of the 1960s, when elevated roads were considered solutions for growing transportation needs.

Approximately 25,000 vehicles use this elevated road daily, with speed limits varying between 50 and 60 kilometers per hour depending on the section.

The structure includes dedicated parking spaces for bicycles, motorcycles, cars, and taxis directly underneath the elevated roadway sections.
