Wilhelmsburger Inselpark is a large green area featuring gardens, ponds, and mature trees throughout its landscape. The space includes dedicated zones for sports, recreation, and leisure with open meadows and designed garden sections.

The park occupies the site of the International Garden Show (IGS) 2013 and opened on 14 October 2013. The land had previously consisted of meadows, allotment gardens, biotopes and dense shrubs and trees. It was prepared for the garden show and then converted into a public park.

The park serves as a gathering place where neighbors spend time together and build community connections through shared activities. The different zones from gardens to sports areas are used by residents of all ages, making it a social hub for the district.

The main entrance is at Gertrud-von-Thaden-Platz, next to the Wilhelmsburg S-Bahn station. The park has no opening hours and can be used at any time as long as night-time quiet is respected. Dogs must be kept on a leash under the 2006 dog law. The grounds border the separate Wilhelmsburger Rathauspark to the north.

A notable feature is a canal specifically designed for paddling and canoeing that runs through the grounds. The site also includes a high ropes course and specialized sports facilities like skateboard areas and water-based soccer fields.
