Inselpark Arena is a multi-purpose hall in Hamburg's Wilhelmsburg district, home to the Hamburg Towers basketball team and the BG Baskets Hamburg wheelchair basketball team. The hall seats 3,400 for basketball and 2,800 for wheelchair basketball. It was built as an exhibition hall for the International Garden Show 2013 and converted into a sports arena in 2014.
The building originally served as an exhibition hall for the 2013 International Garden Show. After a 14 million euro conversion, it opened as a sports arena in 2014.
The venue is home to the Hamburg Towers basketball team and draws sports fans who gather here for international competitions and boxing matches. It has become a gathering place for major sporting events in the city.
The hall holds 3,400 seats for basketball and 2,800 for wheelchair basketball, so sightlines and capacity vary by event. It sits in the Wilhelmsburg district of Hamburg, next to the swimming pool built between 2011 and 2013. The arena is used for congresses and conferences as well as matches and concerts.
The hall was built for the International Garden Show 2013 and converted for €14 million, with €6 million from the Benno and Inge Behrens Foundation, €4.5 million from IBA Hamburg and €3.5 million from the city. It was inaugurated in late October 2014 with a Hamburg Towers home game, though conversion work finished only in November 2014.
