Petershof

Petershof is a cultural heritage building and retail structure in Leipzig with a travertine facade and protruding window openings. It spans between four streets and houses retail spaces on the ground floor along with three additional commercial stories beneath its distinctive pointed roof.

This structure was built from 1927 to 1929 as a trade fair building under architect Alfred Liebig and the Leipzig Fair and Exhibition Company. It represents the modernist architectural style of that era and served as a key landmark for the city's commercial trade activities.

The entrance foyer displays modernist design details with colorful ceramic accents that shape the interior character. The facade includes statues honoring the architect and the financier behind the project.

The building is located in the heart of Leipzig's city center and is easily reached on foot. Keep in mind that retail spaces on the ground floor are open during regular shopping hours, while the upper floors serve commercial tenants.

Until 2003 the basement and rear building housed Leipzig's largest cinema, the Capitol. This popular entertainment venue disappeared during comprehensive renovations of the complex in the 2000s.
