The museum opened its doors on July 17, 1999, in a building that previously served as a homeopathic central pharmacy in Leipzig.

Visitors can explore the museum Tuesday through Wednesday from 11 AM to 5 PM, Thursday from 2 PM to 8 PM, and Friday to Sunday from 11 AM to 5 PM.
The museum houses an extensive collection of apothecary jars, medicinal herbs, and historical pharmacy interiors that demonstrate pharmaceutical developments in Saxony.
