Spitalkirche, Late Gothic church in Baden-Baden, Germany
The Spitalkirche is a late Gothic church from the 15th century located on Augustaplatz beside the Congress House. Its interior features ten large stained glass windows depicting scenes from the Book of Revelation.
Construction took place between 1468 and 1478, and the building suffered severe damage from the city fire of 1689. Reconstruction in the 18th century restored it to its current form.
The church has served the Old Catholic community since 1878 and continues to host regular services today. It remains a spiritual center for this religious group in the city.
The church sits below Friedrichsbad and directly beside the Caracalla-Therme entrance, making it easy to reach while exploring the city center. Visitors can stop by simply while visiting nearby attractions.
The building holds two distinct bells: one cast in Strasbourg in 1748 and another called 'Jubilate' made in Karlsruhe in 2007. This pairing reflects a blend of historical and contemporary elements within the structure.
