Filmtheater am Friedrichshain, Movie theater in Prenzlauer Berg, Germany.
Filmtheater am Friedrichshain is a cinema in Berlin-Pankow housed in a building with a classical facade and five screening rooms. The auditoriums feature 4K laser projection and varying seating capacities, ranging from 98 to 323 seats per room.
The building opened in 1925 as Olympia with 1200 seats and an orchestra pit. It was renamed UFA-Theater Friedrichshain in the 1930s before later becoming a program cinema with a different purpose.
Each screening room received its own distinct design when the Yorck Group took over the cinema. The themes range from gold rush elements to contemporary influences, creating different environments for watching films.
The cinema sits at Bötzowstraße 1-5 and is accessible via bus line 200 and tram lines M4 and M10. Bicycle parking is available for those arriving by bike.
The cinema was Berlin's first program cinema to show 3D films, setting a new standard for the medium. This pioneering role left a lasting mark on how the city experienced cinema.
