Riehler Heimstätten

Riehler Heimstätten is a large residential community in Riehl that combines independent living buildings with nursing and care facilities. The entire site spreads across park-like grounds with differently designed buildings that accommodate both housing and medical services.

The complex was founded in 1927 on the grounds of former military barracks and grew rapidly into one of Germany's largest such facilities. The project expanded significantly within a few years and shaped how people thought about senior living.

Social events and concerts happen regularly in the community center, bringing residents together. These activities shape daily life and create spaces where people naturally gather and connect.

The site is well laid out with many paths for walking between buildings, making it easy for visitors to get around. Shops and medical services are on site, so basic needs can be taken care of without leaving the grounds.

Germany's first fitness studio specifically for older adults was created here, along with services for residents with specialized care needs. These innovations developed when such facilities were still uncommon anywhere.
