The Stadtkirche St. Marien stands with its 86-meter tower, supported by twelve internal pillars that form the structural foundation of this medieval building.
The church gained prominence in 1521 when Kemberg embraced Lutheran ideas, marked by the first priest marriage of Propst Bartholomäus Bernhardi on August 24.
The interior features a 15th-century sandstone sacrament house and fragments of an altarpiece created by Lucas Cranach the Younger.
The church opens daily from April through October, while winter visits require prior arrangements through the parish office.
Martin Luther preached seven documented times in this church between 1518 and 1534, establishing its connection to the Protestant Reformation.
