Originally constructed in 1880, the bridge underwent substantial reconstruction between 2018 and 2020, retaining parts of its historical structure while meeting modern requirements.

The railway bridge represents German engineering achievements of the 19th century and maintains its status as a protected cultural heritage monument in Hannover.

The bridge supports several railway lines and accommodates bus routes 100, 200, 128, and 134 passing underneath through Königstraße.

The reconstruction project in 2018 cost 23 million euros and incorporated original abutments while using reinforced concrete to replicate the dimensions of the initial vault.
