Flugplatz Augsburg-Haunstetten

Flugplatz Augsburg-Haunstetten is a former military airfield located in the Haunstetten district southwest of Augsburg. The site features production halls, a large hangar equipped with crane systems, and various support facilities that once served flight operations.

The facility was established in 1916 and quickly became a production center under Bayerische Rumpler-Werke AG. Over the decades, it served as a military base during two world wars and later as a Cold War strategic location before transitioning to civilian use.

The airfield became a hub for aviation expertise and industrial development that shaped the local economy. Today, university buildings and aircraft manufacturing operations occupy the grounds, keeping this aviation heritage visible to visitors.
