Villa Heike stands as a five-story building with exhibition halls, offices, and residential spaces, featuring a grand vestibule with Doric temple design elements.
Built between 1910 and 1911 for industrialist Richard Heike, the villa later served as a Soviet detention center and housed the Stasi's secret archive.
The building incorporates architectural elements from historicism, demonstrated through its high ground floor, staircases, and living areas with plastered stone finishes.
The structure at Freienwalder Straße 17 reopened in 2019 following renovation works, now functioning as an atelier and office space for creative professionals.
The villa employed innovative reinforced concrete construction methods by Vienna-based company Diss & Co, marking advanced building techniques of its time.
