Festhalle Ilmenau, Multi-purpose hall and architectural heritage monument in Ilmenau, Germany

The Festhalle Ilmenau is an event center at Naumannstraße featuring architecture from the late 1930s. The building contains halls of various sizes and is protected as a cultural monument.

The building opened in 1938 and dates from the pre-war period when such event halls were built in Thuringia. Despite these origins, the venue has established itself as a cultural center over the decades.

This venue has served as a gathering place for local music performances, exhibitions, and community events since its creation. The spaces reflect the social life of the city and demonstrate how Ilmenau has nurtured its cultural offerings over the decades.

The complex stands on a plot by the Wellenbad, west of the town centre, not in the centre itself. The Festhallenpark around it was redesigned during the third construction phase of the 2019–2023 renovation. The building reopened as a culture and congress centre on 18 April 2023.

A plaque reading "Wir sind das Volk" has hung on the building since 2 October 2013, recalling the first public forum of engaged citizens held here on 27 October 1989 with the political leadership. The square in front later hosted rallies for freedom and democracy drawing up to 25,000 people.
