Wohnquartier Niederfeldplatz, Residential building in Lörrach, Germany.
The Wohnquartier Niederfeldplatz is a residential complex in Lörrach made up of four buildings of varying heights. The development houses 88 barrier-free apartments in total, along with a shared community center, gardens, and a playground for residents.
The complex was built between 2010 and 2013 following a Europe-wide architectural competition held in 2008 that selected the winning design. This process resulted in one of the region's most advanced residential projects.
The development incorporates a community center accommodating 40 people, gardens, and a playground to promote neighborhood connections among residents.
The complex has underground parking and apartments in different sizes from one to five rooms. Ground floor units provide direct access to the landscaped outdoor areas and garden spaces.
The complex features solar panels on all flat roofs and solar technology integrated directly into the building facades. This makes it the first carbon-neutral residential complex in Germany.
