Robert-Koch-Park, Public park in Grünau-Ost, Germany
Robert-Koch-Park is a 25-hectare landscaped park in Leipzig with several historic buildings, three ponds, and a tree-lined avenue of lime trees. The grounds are dominated by a neo-classical mansion that serves as an event venue and connects to the neighboring Schönauer Park.
The park was established between 1910 and 1913 as a summer residence for agricultural machinery manufacturer Paul Sack. It later transformed into a public park and was named after physician Robert Koch.
The park became a center for artistic activities and outdoor exhibitions that encourage local creativity. Visitors can experience various cultural programs and events throughout the year that turn the grounds into a meeting place for artists and art lovers.
The park is easy to reach and offers various pathways to explore the large grounds. Visitors should note that some areas host medical facilities and services that operate within the park.
The mansion is called Parkschloss Grünau and stands out for its distinctive mansard roof design. The park was later named after a famous physician, though this naming had no connection to any medical activities at the original estate.
