Kurhaus, Classical spa house in Heiligendamm, Germany
The Kurhaus presents a grand columned portico in Tuscan order, topped by a triangular pediment and featuring large windows across its facade.
Built between 1814 and 1816 under Friedrich Franz I's commission, architect Carl Theodor Severin created this structure as a foundational example of North German classicism.
The building displays mythological reliefs above its entrance hall, including Hygieia, the goddess of healing, representing the medical traditions of German spa culture.
The Kurhaus now functions as a restaurant within the Grand Hotel Heiligendamm complex, offering Baltic Sea views through its extensive windows.
The building's attic bears a Latin inscription 'HEIC TE LAETITIA INVITAT POST BALNEA SANUM' above the columned entrance hall.
