Founded in 1829 by Peter Ehlis, the file manufacturing facility operated continuously under family ownership until 2015, employing 142 workers at its peak in 1873.

The preservation of traditional file manufacturing methods continues through demonstrations in a dedicated showroom equipped with original machinery and tools.

The factory complex undergoes renovation to create spaces for workshops, studios, and public events while maintaining its status as an industrial heritage site.

Film productions, including the RTL movie about Adidas and Puma, selected this location for its preserved industrial architecture from the 19th century.
