Margaretenkirche, Protestant church in Aldingen, Germany
The Margaretenkirche is a Protestant church in Aldingen with Gothic characteristics built in the late 15th century. Its western tower rises about 42 meters high, while the interior contains numerous burial monuments in late Gothic style.
Master Hans von Ulm designed and built the structure in the late 15th century, completing it around 1500 according to an inscription on the church. From 1568 to 1640, both Catholic and Protestant services took place there because the ruling family followed different faiths.
The interior displays carved stone monuments and sculptures that recall the area's former prominent families. These artworks show how important this place was to the people who lived nearby.
The building is reached through three gates leading to an enclosed churchyard, with the main entrance on the south side. Visitors can explore the grounds on established pathways and view the graves and exterior of the structure.
The western tower bears an inscription with the year 1500 that precisely marks the completion date, which is rare for churches of this period. Such dated markings help modern visitors understand how quickly and carefully the master builders worked.
