Old bridge of Wasserstraßenkreuz Minden

The 370-meter-long concrete structure carries the Mittelland Canal over the Weser River through eight arches at a height of 13 meters.

Engineers Heinrich Küster and Gereke completed the construction in 1914, but German troops destroyed it in 1945 before reconstruction with reinforced concrete in 1949.

The aqueduct represents a milestone in German water engineering, connecting the country's major waterways and enabling continuous navigation between eastern and western regions.

The eastern arch serves as the main navigation channel for vessels on the Weser River, while six additional arches prevent water accumulation during extreme floods.

The structure stands as one of the few locations in Germany where one federal waterway crosses directly over another through an aqueduct system.
