The park was founded in 1968 by the Scheidtweiler family and grew into a regional attraction over the decades. In 2017, Katja and Axel took over and carried out extensive modernization improvements.
The park focuses on displaying animals native to the surrounding forests and meadows of North Rhine-Westphalia. You encounter deer, wild boar, and various birds in spacious enclosures that mirror their natural environments.
The park is accessible by foot during both spring-through-fall and winter seasons, with visiting hours varying by season. The grounds are laid out so visitors can move through easily on foot.
A highlight is the falconry section where visitors can watch flight demonstrations with red kites, black kites, and desert buzzards. These daily shows let you see how these birds of prey move through the air.
