Landratsamt, Administrative building in Anklam, Germany

The Landratsamt at Demminer Straße 71–74 in Anklam is a mostly two-storey, plastered building in the Historicist style, designed by Berlin architects Georg Dinklage and Ernst Paulus. Its most prominent element is a three-storey gabled risalit with neo-baroque forms; two further gabled risalits and a side wing with a small tower complete the composition, alongside single-storey annexes.

The Landratsamt was built around 1906 as the administrative building of the Kreis Anklam, following a design by Berlin architects Georg Dinklage and Ernst Paulus that won an architectural competition. The building served the district administration continuously; the Kreis Anklam existed until 1952, then again in reduced form until 1990/1994, before merging into Landkreis Ostvorpommern and, from 2011, Landkreis Vorpommern-Greifswald.

The building serves as a place where residents handle their everyday dealings with local authorities. People come here from across the region to request documents or resolve administrative matters.
