Kriegsschule Anklam, Military educational complex in Anklam, Germany.
Kriegsschule Anklam is an architectural complex with three separate four-story wings organized along 27 window axes. The facade is constructed from yellow clinker bricks and features decorated cornices throughout, giving the structure its distinctive appearance.
Built in 1871 according to Friedrich August Stüler's designs, this complex was one of ten royal Prussian military schools for officer training. During the 20th century it served different purposes before remaining vacant for an extended period after 1990.
The building displays the craftsmanship of Prussian military architecture through its yellow clinker bricks and decorated cornices, which continue to shape the town's appearance. This material choice and design were typical for military structures of that era and reflect the standards applied to officer training facilities.
The building is currently undergoing conversion into 72 residential units, with 62 designated as publicly subsidized apartments under rent control. Visitors should note that the complex is in transition during renovation work.
After the military school closed, the site had a varied history: it functioned as a bolt factory and later as a poultry processing facility during the GDR period. This industrial use left few visible marks on the building despite these transformations.
