Wasserschloss Erkenbrechtshausen

Wasserschloss Erkenbrechtshausen is a rectangular timber-framed water castle in Crailsheim surrounded by moats on two sides. The structure sits near the Rotbach stream and currently serves as a venue for private celebrations and events.

The castle was first mentioned in 1278 as property of the Crailsheim nobility and suffered major destruction during the German Peasants' War. These early events shaped its long history in the Baden-Württemberg region.

The castle now hosts regional craft fairs where local artisans display their handmade work throughout the year. This cultural use shapes community gatherings and draws visitors from surrounding areas.

The castle sits roughly 6 kilometers (4 miles) northwest of Crailsheim's center in the Triensbach district and is viewable from nearby paths. The site primarily hosts events, so visiting times may be limited outside of scheduled occasions.

A pond covering roughly a quarter-hectare was created by damming the Rotbach stream and separates the castle from the neighboring settlement. This water feature makes the location a rare example of its architectural type.
