Gut Sögeln

Gut Sögeln is a manor house in Bramsche with a two-story main building and symmetrical side wings, surrounded by a double moat and garden areas. The complete complex displays classical proportions from the late 18th century with its preserved gate tower structure.

The site originated in the 13th century as a water castle with defensive functions. The current manor house was built in the late 18th century following classical design principles and continues to define its appearance today.

The manor house reflects building traditions of the Prince-Bishopric region and shows how such estates served as residential and administrative centers. The double moat and symmetrical wings demonstrate the importance of defensive design combined with display of wealth and status.

The estate is located at An der Lindenallee 1 in Bramsche and is accessible via local roads. The gate tower with its 18th-century clock marks the entrance and provides a clear orientation point upon arrival.

The gate tower still shows arrow slits on its ground floor, revealing its original role as a defensive structure beneath the classical redesign. These details preserve a piece of military tradition that often goes unnoticed by visitors.
