Adventkapelle, Religious chapel in Gräfrath, Germany.
The Adventkapelle is a religious building in Gräfrath featuring a long rectangular form with a pitched roof and four large round-arched windows positioned along its north side. The structure stands on Donaustrasse and displays simple, functional architecture typical of early 20th-century religious construction.
The chapel was built in 1913 as a place of worship for the Seventh-day Adventist community and ranks among the few remaining religious buildings from this denomination constructed before 1920 in North Rhine-Westphalia. The congregation vacated the site after 1985 to relocate to a new facility.
The interior features a barrel-vaulted ceiling with plastered wooden panels and displays biblical text from Psalm 100 on its western wall. This design reflects the religious beliefs of the community that used this space for worship across generations.
The building sits on a quiet residential street and remains visible from outside, making it accessible to view at any time of day. Visitors should note that this is no longer an active worship site, so access to the interior may not always be available.
Master builder Abraham Linder, who had ties to the Baptized Christian Community, led the design and construction of this house of worship. His involvement connects the building to a broader network of religious construction traditions in the region.
